Renowned for her quick wit and pop culture references, British fashion designer Bella Freud creates luxury knitwear with a quirky twist. As the daughter of artist Lucian Freud and the great granddaughter of famous psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud, Bella followed her creative path in fashion when she left school at 16 to work as a shop assistant for Vivienne Westwood. She launched her eponymous fashion label in 1990, yet her knitwear collection – featuring signature sweaters ‘Je t’aime Jane’, ‘Ginsberg is God’ and ‘1970’ – came later in 2007. Luxuriously knitted using super-fine merino wool, pima cotton or Italian-blended yarns, the cult sweaters have been seen sported by celebrity style icons, including Alexa Chung and Kate Moss.
