Until November 27, 2017, Italian label P.A.R.O.S.H. was flying under most people’s fashion radar. The announcement of Prince Harry’s engagement to actress Meghan Markle changed all that. Within hours, every inch of what the new royal-to-be was wearing was scrutinised and pronounced a sartorial zenith. From her Prince Harry designed engagement ring to her clean-line white coat, everyone wanted to know where they could get that Meghan look. Top of the list was her simple but beautiful green dress by P.A.R.O.S.H. Suddenly one of Lux Boutique Outlet’s gorgeous Italian labels was a household name and the dress was a sellout.
A quick recap. The P.A.R.O.S.H story goes a lot further back than the biggest engagement of 2017. Twenty years ago Italian designer Paolo Rossello began customising vintage clothes, redesigning them and giving them a new lease of life. To this day, this is the germ of every P.A.R.O.S.H. piece. The name itself stands for Paolo Rossello Second Hand. The signature look to every collection is luxurious vintage-fusion clothing transformed into elegant, wearable standalone closet essentials that make the wearer feel and look amazing. Paolo Rossello is still involved in the production of each P.A.R.O.S.H. creation from concept to end result.
Of course, designer Rossello was ecstatic on Markle’s choice of his dress as her engagement look. “It’s a dream. Meghan was stunning and über sophisticated. We love her and her styling,” he told The Huffington Post. “It was totally insane, an amazing surprise,” Rossello said to The Telegraph, explaining that he had absolutely no idea that Markle had bought a dress from his company. “We were astonished to see Meghan with our bow detail dress.”
Faithful followers of P.A.R.O.S.H collections have adored the collections for its easy luxury for some years. Some were ecstatic that finally this Italian gem was getting the acclaim they knew it deserved but as Instagram and twitter lit up with each #pharosh hashtag some began to show slight concern. Would their little known go-to label be unattainable now the likes of Markle had illuminated it in a celebrity glow? Instagram was alight with comments like: “Am feeling the combination pride/fear of “I’m really proud of this brand (that I’ve been following for a while) having this moment- but oh crap now I’ll never be able to afford them!” hahaha. I am determined to treat myself to your studded cape one day!!”
Luckily, Luxe Boutique Outlet has its hands on a few P.A.R.O.S.H. must-haves that will give your wardrobe that Markle effect.
